If You Want To Be Successful, Do These 10 Things Every Morning
We’re into a new year, which often means a new you. Many of us start a new year with high hopes and expectations. We set goals, and affirm that this year will be better than the last. We might want to change jobs, make more money, meet new friends, go to new places, reconnect with family – in short, be successful.
Certainly, January is a great time to start planning for success. Yet when you look at successful people, it’s easy to get overawed, as well as feel deflated and drop your head while assuming they were successful because they are somehow better than you.
This is simply not true. Anybody can be successful. After all, life is what you make of it. But if you are serious about achieving success, there are a few things you need to do first – especially in the morning. Let’s take a look at 10 things you should do in the morning in order to be more successful.
Shift Your Focus To Productivity Rather Than How Busy You Are
Some people like to keep busy. It makes them feel as though they’re living their lives by staying active. Simply flopping on the sofa and watching television makes them feel worthless.
But being busy is not enough. Anybody can be busy doing meaningless things that add no value to our lives. Instead, you need to start shifting your focus toproductivity.
Celebrities sometimes seem like busy people; they are often snapped out shopping, on red carpets or on beaches. But business is not productivity.
What you need to start doing is using your time more productively. This will help you to get more things done in a shorter space of time.
So, each morning you need to use your time in the right way and do something productive; this will set the tone for the rest of your day.
Exercise
You might think that you can exercise at any time of the day, but once everything starts piling up it’s often exercise that gets nudged off the to-do list. To make sure this doesn’t happen, do it first thing.
Eat A Healthy Breakfast
Many of us head out the door with nothing more than a cup of coffee swimming around our stomach. Others stuff pancakes, donuts or bacon down their faces.
All these options are unhealthy. Eating nothing leaves you without energy, while eating fatty food will lead to brain fog.
Instead, you should eat a healthy breakfast in the morning that fuels your body.
Take A Leap!
Often, we’re not successful because something is holding us back. Usually, this “something” is a fear of the unknown. We are offered risks and adventures, but we hold back. We play it safe, sticking to the same job, the same town, the same faces. We say that perhaps next year we’ll go for it. But next year comes around and again we play it safe.
If you want to be a success, it’s time to start taking those risks. It’s time to start taking leaps and setting your sights higher. Yes, gambling is scary, but those who dare win. No successful entrepreneur got where they are today by playing it safe.
Each morning, you need to be taking those risks. If you play it safe in the morning, you’ll play it safe throughout the day.
Plan Your Day
Very few things get achieved without planning. You might achieve one or two things throughout your day, but you won’t get a sense of fulfilment that comes from achieving your major goals.
A productive day simply cannot happen without a plan. If you don’t plan, you’ll be buzzing around all day, making mistakes, losing time, getting trapped on the tram, with frustration growing.
The morning is a great time to plan your day. Here is the time to figure out your appointments, map out your schedule, and prioritise all the important stuff.
Eat The Frog
I’m not saying you should actually eat a frog in the morning (or at any other time of the day). That’s just gross and will get you in trouble!
“Eat the frog” is actually a motivational line that all successful people abide by. Essentially, it means that you should do your most difficult task first before all others. In this way, the hardest part of your day is already done and dusted and it’s (fairly) easy pickings from now on.
Psychologically, this puts you at a distinct advantage. If you leave the hardest task until the end of the day, its shadow will cast itself over everything you do. Getting it out of the way early on will lift a weight off your shoulders.
Read Or Watch Something Motivational
Successful people read a lot. They read voraciously. One of the things they read are motivational material, which gets them in the right frame of mind for the day ahead. This is something you can do too.
If you’re not a particularly attentive reader, you could instead watch a motivational video on YouTube.
Pay Attention To Your Partner
Being a success doesn’t just mean being a success at work. It means being a success in all aspects of your life, especially at home with your partner.
It’s important that your partner knows you love and respect them. In the morning, you should spend some time with them before you go to work; talk to them, kiss them, hug them. Maybe even give them a back rub or make them breakfast in bed. This can put you in a hugely relaxed and positive mindset for the day ahead.
Wake Up Earlier
You might think that stumbling out of bed at 8am to make your coffee is early enough. Any earlier, and you’d be a total zombie! But successful people make a habit out of rising early; and by early, we’re talking 6am.
Time is a really precious commodity, and this is something that successful people seem to know better than anyone else. They know that time can easily get eaten up by the small things, such as phone calls, unplanned visits, meetings, crises and so on. As such, they rise early to make sure they have enough time to get everything done.
Waking up earlier also gives you a psychological edge. When you know that everyone else is still in bed while you’re being productive, it gives you a boost. You’re ahead of the competition and it feels great.
Drink Water
Many of us are reliant on a cup of Joe in the morning; some people are over-reliant.
Water is better than anything in the morning as it helps to flush out all the nasty and stultifying toxins that have built up in your body overnight.
Moreover, water doesn’t come with a crash like caffeine does.
Stay happy
